Latin Dance

Latin dancing is most widely known for the Salsa but the full menu of Latin dance offers a wonderful variety of dances from slow and sensuous, to upbeat and jazzy, to hot and sexy and the wonderful variety of music offers something for both the young and the mature. Our Latin dance classes include the full menu of Latin dances including the Salsa, Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Merengue, Jive and Tango.

Each of the Latin dances has its own distinct signature yet many of the dances are interrelated and learning three different dances can be as easy as learning one. For example, the Salsa and Rumba look quite different but have very similar steps and once you’ve learnt one, the other is incredibly easy. The Cha Cha looks completely different but is actually similar foot work with an added step. Each dance compliments the other.

The basic Jive steps have similarities to the Cha Cha, so again learning becomes complimentary. Samba tends to stand alone and is a different movement and it’s hook is the happy, uplifting Brazilian music with wonderful drum rhythms that vibrate through your body.

And then there’s the Tango, Argentina’s gift to the Latin dance genre and a passionate and soulful dance that can be almost addictive.

Latin dancing has been a part of Ballroom dancing since the early 1900’s and is even more popular and fashionable today than it was back then.

In our Latin dancing classes you’ll learn several dances as beginners and add to your Latin dance repertoire as you progress. Our beginner’s classes are geared to absolute beginners that have never danced before, whatever their age and the lessons are structured at a very easy entry level and progress at a pace that keeps a nice balance of learning and fun at the same time.

Our group classes are held on weeknights throughout the year and new enrolments are accepted monthly. The classes and fees are structured so that they suit an adult’s lifestyle, catering for both those who attend consecutive weeks as well as those with commitments that allow regular, but not always consecutive weekly attendance. There is an option of paying for a set term of 10 weeks or purchasing a Dance Pass for 8 classes taken over 3 months. A first time one-of trial class is available for newcomers.

We’d love to have you join us for the fun that Latin dancing offers.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the beginners classes that we are still pursuing dance lessons. Our teachers are enthusiastic, patient, funny, informative, competent and extremely qualified. The latin and ballroom classes taught were commensurate with our abilities and the students quickly gained the confidence to competently do these dances. We would (and have) recommend Fandango’s dance classes to our friends and to anyone wanting to learn how to dance.”

“I found the teachers to be very professional, highly competent and with great personalities. There was some personal attention given to everyone each class as well a group instruction. I attended the beginners classes with my partner and a friend as something different to do and because we enjoyed the classes as much as we did, we are all continuing further classes, going out dancing and starting to look pretty cool.”
